What shoes do you pair with shorts?

It may have been a brutal winter and although there may be a few cold days left, think forward to spring and begin to gather the go-to spring items your wardrobe will need. Perhaps you are fortunate enough to have a winter trip or spring break trip you are anticipating in which you will definitely need spring/summer attire. The right shoes with shorts will tie your entire look together and speaks to your innate ability to finesse any social situation. Don’t forget to pay attention to the details (shoes!) because, as everyone knows, “the wheels make the deal”!

Standard Low Tops
A pair of lived in Converse or All Star low tops always look great with shorts. Wear with no socks for a laid back yet ready to roll look. Great for rocky beaches or jumping into a pickup game of hoops.

Flip Flops
There is something about a man confident enough to wear good old flip flops to an occasion. Pair with colorful cargo shorts and a button down for a mix and match look that is sure to catch an eye. Flip Flops paired with a slightly dressier outfit says you are confident, casual, and cool in all social situations (but really prefer a spontaneous volleyball game if one springs up).

Penny Loafers
Want to harken back to the days of preppy mania? Wearing loafers with no socks and a pair of shorts says “I’ve been to more than my share of get togethers in the Hamptons!” Upside: If you are vacationing and there is a dress code for dining, you almost always look the part with this preppy look. This combination allows you casual comfort while maintaining an image of “been there, know how to handle it”.

Get ready for sunshine and warm days! Pick just the right shoes to pair with shorts to show the world you’re ready for all things fun in the sun!

It’s all about the converse or tennis sneakers for me, everything else just looks dumb with shorts, I hate flip flops.

Interesting to see penny loafers included here, I didn’t know they’d come back into style. I remember my dad wearing them when I was growing up!

I only wear flip flops in the summer, it’s not so much about confidence as it is about comfort. On those hot days anything else is no good.
