Every now and then, you need a weekend to let off some steam. Get out in the open air and get away from the stress of everyday life. There are few better ways to do this than an adventure weekend with the boys! Strap on your hiking boots and put yourselves to the test. It’s good exercise, great for bonding with the lads and tons of fun. Today we’re going to show you how to make the most of your adventure weekend.
First of all, take an extra day off and make it a long weekend. You’re going to need that extra day to recover and take it easy! You have two options with an adventure weekend. You can either use an adventure company to plan and lead your activities. Or, you can go it alone and head out into the wilderness. Both options work well, and it’s up to you. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some super fun ideas.
Hiking – Hiking is great because it’s quick and easy. You’ll take the car, park up at a rest stop and start walking. Of course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared and stocked up. First up, you’ll need good, strong hiking boots. Task Force are an official LOWA stockist and great for rugged, outdoor style footwear. We also suggest taking a map, compass and someone who knows how to use them! A first aid kit, a knife and fire starters wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
Camping – You can extend the hike over the whole weekend with a little camping in the middle. Setting up the tent is a fantastic way to bring all the lads together and enjoy the evening. You’ll break out a few beers, share some food and stories around the campfire. Again, make sure you come prepared. Bring reliable, waterproof tents and thick, warm sleeping bags.
Paintballing – Now for the fun parts. If you want to add some adrenaline to your weekend, try and afternoon of paintballing. Split the group up into two teams and fight it out against each other. You’ll play war games like capture the flag and last man standing. Be prepared for a little bit of pain when the paintball hits you though!
White water rafting – If you’re lucky enough to have a raging river nearby, take advantage. Most national parks have a stretch of water perfect for canoeing or white water rafting. You’ll love watching your mates capsize and battle with the fierce rapids. Again, you can split the team up and race to the end. Drinks are on the losers!
Climbing – Rock climbing will separate the men from the boys! There are tons of adventure destinations that offer climbing tours, so hunt them out. Of course, you’ll need a qualified guide or instructor for this one. Remember, safety is important, and you’ll be strapped into a harness. It’s a good bonding experience and the views from the top will make it all worthwhile.
There’s nothing better than a good adventure weekend with the boys. Get away from the office and stress of daily life and inject some adrenaline into the weekend!
