Luxury Home: 5 Simple Ways To Make Your Bathroom Special

Everybody deserves a little luxury in their home from time to time. Sometimes, it is just nice to treat yourself. Your home is your castle, and so you need to make sure that it suits you. When you spend time in your bathroom, you need to have a little space from the outside world. Your bathroom should be a retreat from the rest of the world; a place where you can relax and no one can disturb you. Many men just have basic bathrooms. You may not have altered your home bathroom at all. That is a mistake. With a few simple changes in your bathroom, you can create a room that is pure luxury. Here are five simple ways to make your bathroom special.

  1. Create a wet room

If you have ever been to a spa, you will know what a wet room looks like and how it works. A wet room is a room that you can fill with steam, without damaging anything. When you are in your bathroom, you want it to be an experience, rather than just a chore. You can create a wet room effect by tiling your floor and walls using the same tiles. This job is a big one, but the results will be worth the hassle. Make sure that you use a tile sealant under your tiling so that no water can leak through it.

  1. Add a heated towel rack

When you step out of the shower, it is a horrible feeling. Nobody likes stepping out from the warm comfort of a shower to the harsh realities of the outside world. Wouldn’t it be nice if hot towels were waiting for you the moment you came out of the shower? Of course, it would. A heated towel rack is the cheapest of our luxury items here. In fact, you can buy a rack for around $100 from any home store. Fix the rack to your wall at home, and use it when you shower. You might want to have an electrician check whether it is safe to use in your bathroom.

  1. Install a hot tub

The hot tub is the ultimate in lavish luxury. If you can afford it, installing a hot tub in your bathroom will make a world of difference to the room. You should first make sure that installing a tub is viable for your home. Sometimes, certain plumbing makes it hard to install new items. Have a specialist from a company, such as Texas Plumbing Diagnostics, take a look at your pipes. He or she will tell you whether you can install a tub with ease. Remember, once you have a tub, you need to make sure that you keep it clean and hygienic.

  1. Get electric floor heating

Under-floor heating is a simple way to make your bathroom experience great. Before you tile your floor, you will need to install a heating unit under your tiling. You can get electric heating mats that you lay under your floor to keep you warm. These mats are quite expensive. They will cost you at least $600, but they will be worth it. Once you have installed your heating mat, and tiled your floor, you can use a thermostat to control your floor heating.

  1. Install dimmer switches

When you want to create a relaxing environment in your bathroom, you need a little mood lighting. Installing dimmer switches might sound hard, but it is not. You can pick up dimmer fittings from your local DIY store. All you need to do is remove your old light switches, and replace them with dimmer switches. It is just a case of matching up the wires. There will be instructions that come with the fixtures, and so it should be easy.
