Most people will spend their money buying the latest tech gadgets and wearing the latest fashions. Technology and fashion are billion-dollar industries. And that’s because of people’s desires to stay on trend.
Take smartphone manufacturers, for example. One cell phone maker named after a fruit now appears to release new models on an annual basis. The cheapest new model you can buy will set you back a whopping $649!
Of course, not everyone has a desire to spend money on the latest trendy technology and fashion. Some folks prefer to step back in time and go retro! If that sounds like you, here are some ideas to help you be more retro.
Now I don’t profess to being a clothing expert, and I’m the least-likely person to stay on trend with today’s fashion. My own style of clothing is somewhat eclectic. Of course, that doesn’t mean I will buy clothes that people wouldn’t get seen dead wearing!
The thing about fashion is that, every so often, past trends become popular again. For example, a lot of women wear flares today, just like they would have done in the 1970s. In some cases, fashion can fuse together yesterday’s trends with today’s styles.
Take a look at some of today’s retro clothing for men. You will often see T-shirts when prints of old company names, products or TV characters on them. These days, wearing retro or pseudo-retro clothing is pretty much on trend!
The cars of many decades ago did not have Bluetooth DAB radios, stability control or dual-zone climate control. The best you could hope for was an FM radio and power windows.
Still, that doesn’t mean you can’t drive a retro car in 2014. You could buy something iconic such as a 1967 Ford Mustang. Or maybe something eccentric and little-known.
A lot of motoring enthusiasts will upgrade the technology in their retro cars. That way, they have the best of both worlds.
Another fashionable way to be more retro is to opt for retro styling in your home. I’ve seen people remodel their homes with Art Deco styling. Others use 1950s diners as the basis of their inspiration.
Whatever your tastes, you can be sure that there is a retro style for you out there! How retro you go will depend on your imagination and how much cash you’ve got available.
Websites like Houzz are great resources for retro interior design ideas. Just don’t blame me if you spend your money like it’s 1999!
